G3ict presents at DeViNT 2010
New Technologies Supporting the Visually Impaired
- Polytech’Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France
- May 20, 2010
For the 8th year now, the Engineering School of the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (France) opened its doors to the public. Next May 20 it hosted the traditional meeting dedicated to new technologies supporting the visually impaired.
The meeting gathered representatives from the private and public sectors, academia, and the visually impaired community. The aim was to inform the visually impaired upon progress of new technologies and to allow them to express their real needs. The day included round tables, workshops and technology demontrations.
This year's theme was the "Access to Reading": «LIRE, clef du sa-VOIR » (READING is the key to KNOWING). During the conference, the students of Polytech'Nice Sophia showcased their own projects, including educational and recreative software dedicated to visually impaired children in cooperation with the “Castle School” and the "Clément Ader Institute for Sensory Education" in Nice. Each conference participant received a CD containing the DeViNT games.
This year, the DeViNT excellence award to the best student's work dedicated to the visually impaired was sponsored by the Thalès company. For additional information, please visit: http://devint.polytech.unice.fr/
