G3ict presents at IDA, Civil Society CRPD Forum (COSP5 Pre-conference)

Details: The International Disability Alliance (IDA), with the support of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), will host this day-long event the day before the opening of the Conference.

Draft Programme

  • 10:00-10:30 Opening session chaired by Colin Allen, President of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD)

  • 10:30-12:00 First session: CRPD related advocacy work at national level leading to change in legislation and policies | Co-chaired by Regina Atalla, President of RIADIS and Patrick Clarke, Chair of Down Syndrome International  (DSI)
  • 12:00- 13:00 Second session: Examples of work with other stakeholders (media, National human rights institutions, business, trade unions, etc..) to promote the implementation of the CRPD

    , Secretary General of the World Federation of the DeafBlind (WFDB) and Nawaf Kabbara, President of Arab Organisation of Persons with Disabilities (AOPD)

  • 15:00-16:15 Third session: Increasing the funding for the implementation of the CRPD: good examples of international co-operation, disability rights budgeting and getting disability into the post-2015 agenda | Co-chaired by Latoa Halatou, Co-chair of Pacific Disability Forum (PDF) and Klaus Lachwitz, Chair of Inclusion International

  • 16:15-17:30 Fourth session: Examples of co-operation between UN agencies and DPOs/NGOs at national or global level to promote the implementation of the CRPD | Co-chaired by Pekka Tuominen, Treasurer of the European Disability Forum (EDF) and Moosa Salie, Chair of World Network of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry (WNUSP).

  • 17:30-18:00 Closing session chaired by Maryanne Diamond, President of the World Blind Union and member of the IDA Governing Body.
