This session will present an overview and analysis of global trends related to digital inclusion policies and the CRPD.
Abstract: Laws, regulations, and public policies related to the digital inclusion and human rights of people with disabilities are no longer being developed in just a small number of countries and world capitals. The United Nations (UN) Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and an increasingly politically engaged civil society are pushing governments around the world to become more active in policy making related to technology, disability, and inclusion. G3ict is an advocacy initiative launched in December 2006 in cooperation with United Nations (UN) specifically to support the implementation of the technology and digital accessibility parts of the CRPD. As part of that mission, G3ict has set up systems, programs, and global networks both to monitor and support effective policy making worldwide.
The mission of the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) is to define, promote and improve the accessibility profession globally through networking, education and certification in order to enable the creation of accessible products, content and services.
