G3ict Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

Principles

  • We do not collect personal information unless truly needed.
  • We do not share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law or protect our rights.
  • We do not store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of one of our services.
  • We aim to make it simple for you to control what’s visible to the public, seen by search engines, kept private, and permanently deleted.

Information Collection and Use

Visitors: For each visitor to our web page, our web server automatically records the visitor's domain name and IP address. We collect only the domain name of visitors to our web page, aggregate information on what pages visitors access or visit, and information volunteered by the visitor, such as survey information and/or site registrations. We do not collect emails of unregistered visitors.

The aggregated information we collect is used for the following purposes:

  • To improve the content of our web pages
  • Shared with underwriters and potential underwriters to help them assess G3ict’s website audience

Publications downloads

You may download free publications from our library. We ask you to enter your email address to complete a download. We will not use this email for any other purpose than:

  • To send you an automated link for you to download the publication you choose
  • To offer you an invitation to register as a G3ict Fellow on our web site if you so desire
  • To monitor the number and origins of downloads of our publications in their aggregate

Registered Users

Our visitors can opt in to receive from us various categories of information by registering as a G3ict Fellow. We ask for both mandatory and optional details. These details include Name, Email, Country and other options. Registered users can choose to remove themselves from our database by contacting G3ict with 'unsubscribe' written in the first line of the email. Email addresses of registered users are not rented to outside firms or shared with any third party for sales purposes.

The data thus collected is used to:

  • Enhance the content of our web pages
  • Send to users via email newsletters and other G3ict services as chosen and authorized by the visitor (G3ict Daily Headlines, IAAP Newsletter, G3ict Digest on global accessibility developments and events and M-Enabling news) on a periodic basis
  • Promote G3ict programs and advocacy activities
  • Send you invitations to participate in events
  • Conduct polls and opinion surveys

Cookies & Third-party Cookies

Cookies are small data files that a website places on your hard drive for record-keeping purposes. You have many choices with regards to the management of cookies on your computer. All major browsers allow you to block or delete cookies from your system, but if you choose to block or delete cookies, it may limit your use of certain features or functions on G3ict. To learn more about your ability to manage cookies and web beacons, please consult the privacy features in your browser. Cookies may be used to collect information however, unless you choose to identify yourself to G3ict (e.g., by filling out the G3ict Fellows form), you remain anonymous to us.

A times, third parties may set cookies or use related technologies or web beacons when you view and/or click their links. The third party’s privacy policy and/or that of its service provider will govern the use of this information and we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such companies. We encourage you to read these businesses’ privacy policies to learn about how they treat your information.

Google Analytics

G3ict uses Google Analytics to collect information about your use of our websites. Google Analytics collects certain information, such as how often you use our websites. We use the information received from Google Analytics to improve our websites. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you use our websites, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through Google Analytics with Personal Information (PI). Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to our websites is restricted by Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy.

Social Media

You may share information from our websites with people associated with your social media account and your social media account provider. By sharing this information, you authorize G3ict to share information with your social media account provider, and you understand that the use of the information G3ict shares will be governed by the social media provider’s privacy policy. Please note that any information you post within these public forums or social media pages may become public and may be read, collected and used by anyone. Please exercise caution when deciding whether to disclose your personal information in these forums.

Security

G3ict takes appropriate precautions to protect our site visitors' information. Our websites use industry-standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption on all web pages where personal or sensitive information is required. This encryption allows your data to be safely transmitted over the Internet without being intercepted, read, altered or deleted by a malicious third party. The encrypted data goes to a physically secure location where your information is stored on restricted-access computers located at restricted-access sites. No data transmission over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure. As a result, while we try to protect your personal information, we cannot ensure or guarantee the security of any information transmitted to us, and you transmit such information at your own risk.

For EU Data Subjects

The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) effective May 25, 2018 and other countries’ privacy laws provide certain rights for data subjects. Among these rights is the right to know the purpose of the processing; the categories of personal data concerned; who else outside of G3ict might have received the data from us; what the source of the information was (if you did not provide it directly to us); and how long the data will be stored. Additionally, you have the right to access and rectify your personal data if it is inaccurate. You may, under certain circumstances, also request that we cease using your data for direct marketing purposes, or that we erase your data. You may also have a right to lodge a complaint with the appropriate data protection authority if you have concerns about how we process your personal data. We will upon request, provide personal data that you have provided to us to you or transmit it directly to another controller if technically feasible.

G3ict has its headquarters in the United States, and information we collect from you will be processed in the United States. The United States has not sought nor received a finding of “adequacy” from the European Union. We collect and transfer data to the United States only with your consent. We endeavor to apply suitable safeguards to protect the privacy and security of your personal data and to use it only consistent with your relationship with G3ict and the practices described in this privacy policy.

Terms of Service

The G3ict Terms of Service ("TOS") forbids email abuse. It is very important to us that any violations of these policies are identified and addressed. We appreciate your assistance in enforcing these policies.

You agree to not use the G3ict website to:

  • Upload, post, email or otherwise transmit any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;
  • Harm minors in any way;
  • Impersonate any person or entity, including, but not limited to, a forum leader, guide or host, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity;
  • Forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any Content transmitted through the Service;
  • Upload, post, email or otherwise transmit any Content that you do not have a right to transmit under any law or under contractual or fiduciary relationships (such as inside information, proprietary and confidential information learned or disclosed as part of employment relationships or under nondisclosure agreements);
  • Upload, post, email or otherwise transmit any Content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights ("Rights") of any party;
  • Upload, post, email or otherwise transmit any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or any other form of solicitation;
  • Upload, post, email or otherwise transmit any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment.
