Sprint CEO Dan Hesse will deliver the keynote address at the 2nd Annual M-Enabling Summit, taking place June 6-7 in Washington, D.C. He will join Commissioner Mignon L. Clyburn of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in opening the Summit, which is focused on promoting and implementing accessible mobile communications and services for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, a growing population of more than one billion persons worldwide.
With accessible and assistive technology at the forefront of the mobile industry, the M-Enabling Summit will feature ground breaking solutions for mobile communications, applications and services with life changing implications for millions of users experiencing mild to severe sensorial, physical or cognitive disabilities.
Sprint, a participant in the M-Enabling Summit since its launch in December 2011, is a leading global service provider committed to accessibility solutions. “At Sprint, we endeavor to apply wireless communications technologies to improve everyone’s quality of life, with products and services like Sprint Relay for our customers who are deaf, have a hearing loss or speech disability, and Sprint ID packs for active seniors and people who are blind or have low vision,” said Hesse.
The M-Enabling Summit, organized by the Global Initiative for Inclusive ICTs (G3ict) in cooperation with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and E.J. Krause & Associates, will feature more than 150 speakers with a far-reaching agenda that encompasses a variety of mobile innovations for education, senior services, rehabilitation, travel and transportation, financial services, e-books, gaming, mobile e-commerce, multi-media and emergency response and a number of assistive solutions. The program also includes an update on the many implications of the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibilities Act for mobile accessibility. Leading solutions for physical, visual and speech impairments, hard of hearing, as well as learning and cognitive disabilities will be demonstrated.
“Dan Hesse’s participation in the M-Enabling Summit demonstrates the strategic importance of accessibility for leaders of large corporations serving an increasingly diverse and aging population with multiple mixes of abilities. His sharing his vision for mobile accessibility will be a milestone for all participants in the emerging mobile accessibility eco-system, including mobile service providers, industry leaders, app developers, and accessibility advocates,” stated Axel Leblois, President and Executive Director of G3ict.
The Summit will showcase mobile applications and services leveraging the latest accessibility innovations embedded in smartphones and tablets which play a key role in rapidly transforming the way seniors, persons with disabilities and users of all abilities can remain connected to mainstream economic, social and cultural activities and enjoy safer and more fulfilling lives.
The event is supported by major disability advocates, industry associations, and application developers. It is expected to attract hundreds of attendees from around the world involved in developing and implementing accessible and assistive mobile policies, programs, solutions and services for seniors and persons with disabilities.
The M-Enabling Summit, held at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel on June 6 and 7, 2013, is a must attend event for any organization whose customers include senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
