The M-Enabling Summit Conference and Showcase is pleased to announce that it will host the Award Ceremony for the 2014 FCC Chairman’s Awards for Advancement in Accessibility, the world’s leading award promoting innovation in information technology accessibility for persons with disabilities.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has made accessible communications technologies one if its most valued missions. As people with disabilities constitute the nation’s largest minority group, the advancements made in accessible communications enhance the lives of millions.

The Chairman’s Awards for Advancement in Accessibility (Chairman’s AAA), a signature project of the FCC’s Accessibility and Innovation Initiative, will recognize innovators for contributions to accessible technology. All winners and nominees of the Chairman’s AAA will be honored by FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler at the M-Enabling Summit in Washington, DC. Winners will be recognized during a public awards ceremony, Monday, June 9 at 5:00 p.m. on the premises of the Summit at the Renaissance Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Virginia.

In an effort to raise the baseline level of accessibility found in communication technologies and advanced services enabled by the Internet, the FCC has developed multiple non-regulatory approaches to elevate its efforts in achieving these instrumental goals. One of the most successful program’s has been the Accessibility and Innovation Initiative, which focuses on promoting collaborative problem solving among academic, industry, consumer and government sectors to achieve accessibility.

Winners of the Chairman’s AAA will have the opportunity to promote their innovations during a “winner-mixer” with all Summit attendees after the ceremony and during various sessions of the Summit. More than 500 attendees from 40 countries representing all constituents of the mobile accessibility eco-system are expected to be in attendance.

The M-Enabling Summit is the premier event focusing solely on technology for senior citizens and people with disabilities. This year’s event will also have a special emphasis on technological advancements for wounded veterans. Held at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel, the Summit is a must attend event for any organization whose customers include senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
