The M‑Enabling Summit is G3ict’s flagship global conference, convening accessibility experts and leaders from government, industry, advocacy, and academia to shape the future of inclusive technology. Complemented by a portfolio of regional and international events in partnership with the United Nations and other institutions, these convenings extend G3ict’s impact throughout the year. Together, the Summit and global events amplify the work of G3ict’s divisions, ensuring digital inclusion is advanced at every level — from local communities to organizational practice to international policy frameworks.

M-Enabling Summit

Digital Transformation and Accessibility

Since the early 2000s, mobile networks and the Internet have expanded exponentially, reaching billions of users worldwide. This growth has fueled digital transformations across every sector and sparked unprecedented innovations in user interfaces, assistive applications, specialized services, Smart Home and Smart City solutions, and Extended Reality technologies—all of which can benefit persons with disabilities when designed with accessibility in mind.

Launch of the M‑Enabling Summit

Recognizing this profound transformation, G3ict launched the M‑Enabling Summit in 2011, in partnership with E.J. Krause and Associates (EJK) and in cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The Summit was created to foster collaboration among participants in the emerging M‑Enabling ecosystem, including app and web developers, technology providers, operators, advocates, innovators, consumer electronics industries, governments, accessibility experts, and service providers committed to advancing digital accessibility for persons with disabilities.

Annual Summit Features

Held annually in Washington, D.C., the M‑Enabling Summit features:

  • An innovation showcase
  • A conference program with more than 40 thematic sessions
  • Technical briefings and workshops by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP)
  • Presentations highlighting the latest digital accessibility innovations and policy trends

Since its inception, the Summit has welcomed prominent speakers from industry, government, advocacy, and innovation communities—elevating global discourse on digital accessibility. It has become the leading venue for decision‑makers seeking insights on accessibility solutions, multi‑stakeholder cooperation, and the promotion of inclusive innovation.

Beyond Washington, M‑Enabling meetings have been organized in:

  • Milan, Italy
  • Sydney, Australia
  • Moscow, Russian Federation
  • San Francisco, California (hosted by GSMA at the 2017 Mobile World Congress Americas)
  • Düsseldorf, Germany (in cooperation with REHACARE at Messe Düsseldorf in 2018 and 2019).

Resilience & Growth

After several virtual editions during the COVID‑19 pandemic, the Summit resumed in‑person gatherings in October 2021. In January 2022, G3ict assumed full ownership and management of the M‑Enabling Summit, with the 14th Annual edition scheduled for October 5–7, 2026.
