G3ict’s Flagship Global Conference on Accessible Technology

The M‑Enabling Summit brings together leaders from industry, advocacy, government, and academia to shape the future of inclusive technology. As G3ict’s premier global convening, the Summit showcases practical solutions, highlights emerging innovations, and strengthens collaboration across the accessibility ecosystem.

As a global bridge‑builder, G3ict uses the Summit to connect policymakers, technologists, disability advocates, and industry leaders—creating shared understanding and accelerating progress across sectors. The event also serves as a key gathering point for the accessibility profession, supported by IAAP’s global community of certified practitioners who contribute expertise, training, and professional standards.

Alongside G3ict’s regional and international events, the Summit amplifies the work of G3ict’s divisions—Global Policy & Advocacy, Advisory Services, and IAAP—linking local communities, organizational practice, and global policy frameworks.

Why the Summit Matters

Digital transformation continues to reshape how people live, work, and connect. What began in the early 2000s with the expansion of mobile networks and the Internet has accelerated into a new era defined by AI‑driven interfaces, automation, immersive environments, and connected urban systems. These technologies are transforming user experiences, assistive applications, Smart Homes, Smart Cities, and Extended Reality platforms.

When accessibility is built in from the start, these innovations expand independence, participation, and quality of life for persons with disabilities. When it is not, new barriers emerge just as quickly. The M‑Enabling Summit provides a global forum to examine these trends, explore responsible and inclusive uses of AI, and ensure that emerging technologies advance—not limit—digital access for all.

The Summit also strengthens the global accessibility profession, offering IAAP‑aligned learning, networking, and leadership opportunities that support practitioners at every stage of their careers.

How It Began

Recognizing the impact of digital transformation, G3ict launched the M‑Enabling Summit in 2011 in partnership with E.J. Krause and Associates (EJK), and in cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The Summit was created to bring together the emerging M‑Enabling ecosystem—app and web developers, technology providers, operators, advocates, innovators, consumer electronics companies, governments, accessibility experts, and service providers—committed to advancing digital accessibility.

Global Reach

In addition to its annual gathering in Washington, D.C., M‑Enabling-branded events have taken place in:

  • Milan, Italy (2012)
  • Sydney, Australia (2013)
  • Moscow, Russian Federation (2015)
  • San Francisco, USA (hosted by GSMA at the 2017 Mobile World Congress Americas)
  • Düsseldorf, Germany (in cooperation with REHACARE, 2018 and 2019).

Resilience and Growth

After virtual editions during the COVID‑19 pandemic, the Summit returned to in‑person programming in 2021. G3ict assumed full ownership and management of the event in 2022.

The 14th Annual M-Enabling Summit will be held October 5–7, 2026.
