G3ict’s Digital Accessibility Rights Education (DARE) Academy Announces 20 Recipients to Cycle 1 of its Scholarship Fund Program
Twenty recipients have been awarded scholarships as part of Cycle 1 of the scholarship fund program.
ATLANTA (September 15, 2021) —
The Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies (G3ict) is pleased to announce the recipients of Cycle 1 of its Scholarship Fund Program through its Digital Accessibility Rights Education (DARE) Academy. Twenty applicants have been awarded the scholarship for Cycle 1 of the scholarship held from July 15 to August 15, 2021.

G3ict’s DARE Academy Scholarship program is dedicated to opening new potentials for persons with disabilities who are interested in and passionate about advocating for digital accessibility and to get certified as professionals in this field. Forty scholarships are available through 2021, with Cycle 2 of the program awarding another 20 recipients between October 2021 through December 2021.
A SNAPSHOT
The 20 scholarship recipients successfully completed a global call for applications held from July 15 to August 15, 2021. Applicants were shortlisted and selected by the DARE Academy Advisory Council, consisting of representatives from regional and international Organizations of Persons with Disabilities. The Selection Jury consisted of members from CBM Global Disability Inclusion, European Federation of Hard of Hearing People (EFHOH), International Disability Alliance (IDA), International Federation of Hard of Hearing People (IFHOH), DAISY Consortium, Disabled Peoples’ International (DPI), Leonard Cheshire Disability, and the World Blind Union (WBU).
The scholarship covers 100% of the costs of G3ict’s International Association of Accessibility Professionals’ education material, developed in partnership with Princeton University's Office of Information Technology to prepare for IAAP’s Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) exam. The scholarship also covers the fee to take the CPACC exam, and access to IAAP membership for one year.
The scholarship aims to make available to officers, advocates, and volunteers of organizations of Persons with Disabilities the same quality IAAP and G3ict training and certification resources than those available to private or public sector executives and academic personnel.

ABOUT G3ICT
G3ict – the Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies – is an advocacy initiative launched in December 2006, in cooperation with the Secretariat for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at UN DESA.
