M-Enabling Summit to Host the FCC Chairman Awards for the Advancement of Accessibility
The organizers of the 2016 M-Enabling Summit are pleased to announce that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will co-host the Awards ceremony of the FCC Chairman’s Awards for Advancement in Accessibility (Chairman’s AAA) at the M-Enabling Summit on June 13 from 4:45 pm till 5:45 pm.
BETHESDA, Maryland (March 14, 2016) —
The Awards will be granted to outstanding private and public sector ventures designed to advance accessibility for persons with disabilities. The Chairman’s AAA is designed to recognize the efforts of products, services, standards and other innovative developments that improve the experience of people with disabilities in telecommunications and technology.
The awards ceremony, to be held on the inaugural day of the Summit, from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m., will be preceded by remarks from FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler. The FCC will also host a session on Monday, June 13 covering the “21st Century CVAA Scorecard,” chaired by Karen Peltz Strauss, FCC Deputy Bureau Chief, Consumer and Governmental Affairs (CGB) Bureau, and Rosaline Crawford, Attorney-Advisor, CGB Disability Rights Office.
The annual M-Enabling Summit Conference and Showcase, which will run under the theme “Accessible Technologies and Environments for All,” will be dedicated to empowering mobile technologies, and focus on next-generation innovations and breakthroughs for senior citizens and persons of all abilities. Supported by major disability and senior organizations, as well as industry associations and the private sector, the Summit is expected to attract hundreds of participants from more than 40 countries, underlining the global scope of new mobile opportunities for users and developers alike.
The Summit’s program will focus on accessibility innovations, with over 120 speakers, private sector leaders, apps developers, policy makers, mobile accessibility experts and disability advocates sharing their knowledge and experience. Confirmed presenters include representatives of leading organizations facilitating the accessible technology market.
Experts will discuss accessibility solutions highlighting 5 major tracks: Cutting edge mobile enabling solutions, IOT and smart cities, innovation, inclusive higher education, and scaling up accessibility for business and government.
