India: New Website to Help Persons with Disabilities Register Online with Civic Body

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has launched a special website solely for the benefit of disabled persons who come under it's limits. The new site will aid the disabled people to officially register themselves with the municipal corporation and also get a certificate in this regard.

Talking about the 'Sweekar' website, the civic head of the ETC Centre for Disability Dr Varsha Bhagat said, "With the launch of the new website, we will get a comprehensive data of how many disabled persons are there within the city and also have a breakdown the website in the various 21 disabled categories. At present, we only have data of disabled persons in the entire Thane district, and not within NMMC."

The title 'Sweekar' for this new site, which means 'Acceptance' gives a positive message that the differently abled persons are an important part of our society, said the civic officials.
