Latest Mobile Breakthroughs for Persons with Disabilities at M-Enabling Summit

More than 100 available assistive mobile apps, handsets and web services will be demonstrated by industry, vendors and developers.

ATLANTA (November 02, 2011) —

Technology breakthroughs and future innovations in mobile accessibility for senior citizens and persons with disabilities will be showcased at the M-Enabling Summit, the first mobile industry conference and showcase of its kind, to be held in cooperation with the FCC - Federal Communications Commission and the ITU - International Telecommunication Union in Washington, D.C. December 5-6, 2011.

More than 100 available assistive mobile apps, handsets and web services will be demonstrated by industry, vendors and developers. Organizations representing persons with disabilities, seniors and accessibility experts will chair solution sessions, covering such topics as geo-positioning, near-field communication, cloud-computing and advanced content recognition technologies. 

Apple, RIM, Motorola, HTC, Qualcomm, Doro, AT&T, Sprint, AOL, Vodafone, Orange, Code Factory, Apps4 Android, IBM, AAPD, COAT, Time Warner Cable, FCC, W3C-WAI, ITU, SSB Bart Group, LucyTech,  TDI – Telecommunications for the Deaf, Soreson Communications, Vcom3D,  Abilities!, Keen Guides, HumanWare, Purple Communications, Deque Systems, DAISY Consortium, AFB-Tech, NENA, Gallaudet University, U.S. DOE, GPII, IARP are among the 75 speakers and high caliber showcase participants who will present their perspectives on most recent mobile accessibility technology breakthroughs and future trends.

Developers, service providers, telecom regulators and accessibility experts from more than 20 countries will share their experiences of innovative accessibility programs deployed in markets with the highest growth and penetration of mobile per capita in the world. 

Kareem Dale, Associate Director, White House Office of Public Engagement and Special Assistant to the President for Disability Policy, FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, Dr. Hamadoun Touré, Secretary-General, ITU - International Telecommunication Union, Mohammed Al-Tarawneh, Inaugural Chairperson, United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, will offer remarks to the M-Enabling Summit participants.
