G3ict Involvement with the GDC
Because of its ECOSOC status, G3ict has been actively contributing to the Global Digital Compact (GDC) and AI Governance consultation processes, both through participation in different thematic roundtables or by submitting inputs and statements to feed into the development of the GDC Document and the AI Advisory Body Interim Report. The following is an overall Timeline of G3ict’s contributions to the GDC and AI Governance consultations to-date, including two hosted events:

- November 2020 - G3ict is invited to join the Digital Inclusion Round Table (led by Government of Mexico, Canada, UNWF), List_of_roundtables_key_constituents.pdf.
- February 2021 - G3ict successfully negotiated the insertion of a definition of digital accessibility for persons with disabilities in the initial output document: Definition_Digital-Inclusion.pdf (un.org) aligned with the CRPD.
- January 2023 - G3ict met in New York with Mr. Fayaz King, Special Adviser, Office of S-G Envoy on Technology.
- March 2023 - G3ict submitted a written contribution to the GDC online consultations to emphasize the criticality of digital inclusion and accessibility for persons with disabilities and older persons, providing global data on 137 countries collected through its DARE Index research and Country Dashboard.
- May 2023 - G3ict participated in informal consultations: Thematic deep dives (Digital Human Rights, AI).
- 14 June 2023 - G3ict convened a meeting hosted by Microsoft UN Affairs Office in New York during the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP16). Guest speaker: Mr. Fayaz King, Special Adviser, Office of S-G Envoy on Technology, with industry and advocacy organizations interested in the Global Digital Compact. World Blind Union (WBU) among other global disability organizations participated in this event.
- 11 October 2023 - Private consultations at the G3ict 2023 M-Enabling Summit with DPOs (WBU, stakeholders)
- 13 December 2023 - G3ict participated in the virtual consultation convened by the Summit of the Future Co-Facilitators (Permanent Representatives of Germany and Namibia to the United Nations-New York) for input to the "zero" draft document “Pact for the Future.”
- 31 December 2023 - G3ict submitted a written contribution to the "zero" draft document “Pact for the Future.”
- 10 January 2024 - G3ict met with Ambassador Gill, UN SG Envoy on Technology, to follow-up with his office and explore options for our Work Group to contribute to the GDC and drafting of the "Pact for the Future."
- 13 February 2024 - G3ict participated and delivered a statement during the informal virtual consultation with Non-State Stakeholders convened by the GDC Co-Facilitators (Permanent Representatives of Sweden and Zambia to the United Nations-New York).
- 8 March 2024 - G3ict submitted a written contribution to the "zero" draft document of GDC.
- 31 March 2024 - G3ict submitted a written contribution to the UN AI Advisory Body Interim Report.
- 24 April 2024 - G3ict to participate in GDC Stakeholders Consultation.
- 9-10 May 2024 - Conference of UN Civil Society (Nairobi, Kenya) to further prepare the Summit of the Future.
- 11-13 June 2024 - G3ict and its partners to co-host a series of Side Events concerning GDC and the Summit of the Future on the margin of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP17) at the UN Headquarters in New York.
- 22-23 September 2024 - G3ict, as an ECOSOC-accredited organization, to participate in the Summit of the Future.
