UN ESCAP Expert Group Meeting: Final Review of the Implementation of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2013-2022

Start Date: June 22, 2022

End Date: June 23, 2022

Location: Online; Thailand

Overview:

To realize the regional vision of an inclusive society that upholds the rights of all persons with disabilities, in 2012, ESCAP Members States proclaimed the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2013-2022, and adopted the Incheon Strategy to “Make the Right Real” for Persons with Disabilities in Asia and the Pacific. In 2017, Asia-Pacific Governments adopted the Beijing Declaration including the Action Plan to Accelerate the Implementation of the Incheon Strategy, which contains guidance on further advancing disability-inclusive development. Both frameworks have since supported ESCAP members and associate members in making and tracking progress towards empowering persons with disabilities and improving their quality of life in the Asia-Pacific region.

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is organizing an Expert Group Meeting (EGM) "Final Review of the Implementation of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2013-2022."

James Thurston, VP, G3ict will join the EGM in expert capacity.
