G3ict at the 14th Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CoSP14)

Overview:The 14th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is scheduled to take place both in-person and virtually at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters, New York, from June 14 to 17, 2021. The over-arching theme of the 14th session is ‘Building back better: COVID-19 response and recovery; Meeting the needs, Realizing the rights and Addressing the socio-economic impacts on persons with disabilities.’
As an ECOSOC and COSP-accredited organization, G3ict will be organizing or participating in the following events:
COSP14 Civil Society Forum
June 14, from 9:00 pm - 4:15 pm ET (US & Canada):
Under the auspices of the 14th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the UN CRPD, this Forum will highlight current issues relevant to the disability movement and realization of the CRPD in response to and recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. It will provide additional space for civil society to make its own contributions, to share and capture important issues.
The Opening Session (9:00-9:30 am ET) will be moderated by Dr. Mohammed Ali Loutfy, Civil Society Coordination Mechanism (and G3ict Senior Advisor for Capacity Building and Advocacy). Of interest, the panel discussion, Our Communities Online: How are we adapting to this online world? (10:00-10:50 am ET) featuring G3ict fellows, Ms. Jenny Lay-Flurrie (CAO, Microsoft) and Mr. Dipendra Manocha (Director, Developing Countries Program, DAISY Consortium).
