Special Education Needs and Inclusion: Reflection and Renewal

Following a range of concerns raised by members about issues related to SEN and inclusion, the NASUWT commissioned research to examine these issues. The report looks at interpretations of inclusion including local authority interpretations and how this translates into policy and practice, at different understandings of the term ‘special educational needs’, at teacher attitudes to inclusion, at classroom practice and teachers’ training and development needs, and at issues of behaviour SEN and inclusion. The NASUWT was also keen to look at what has happened across the UK and the report compares policies and practice in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
